POLLY OSWALD; WIFE, MOTHER OF THREE CHILDREN, AND COTSWOLD RESIDENT.
I HAVE HAD AN OBSESSION WITH SCENTED CANDLES FOR YEARS BUT, LIKE MANY OTHERS, WAS SLIGHTLY HESITANT TO CONTINUOUSLY PAY THE HIGH PRICES OF MANY OF MY FAVOURITE LUXURY BRANDS.
And had been disappointed by many brands that simply didn’t have a scent throw when lit. So I set about making my own! My aim was to make a candle that smelt truly amazing when lit but was affordable to the masses. A candle with a price that was accessible, but still aspirational. Every aspect of the candles and other products is sourced from within the UK, including the glass, wax, wicks, fragrances and all the box packaging, as well as the boxes used for sending the candles out to customers.
A SIMPLE TASK, OR SO I THOUGHT.
But I had no idea of the science involved and the huge choice of wax, wicks and fragrances that needed to be combined in just the right way. After over a year of testing, I finally found the right combination of all the elements and the Cotswold Candle Company was born - a range of soy blend scented candles with wooden wicks.
I have sourced the finest fragrances from the UK, taking inspiration from nature and the beautiful area in which I am so fortunate to live. I have chosen simple yet striking scents, that evoke a sense of nostalgia, yet are classically English and timeless. The wicks gently crackle when they burn and help release the fragrance to make the candles smell incredible.
IT HAS BEEN A LONG JOURNEY, JUGGLING A HUSBAND, A YOUNG FAMILY, TWO DOGS, ANOTHER JOB AND A NEW BUSINESS HAS CERTAINLY HAD ITS CHALLENGES!
It has been frustrating when I’ve got into my stride with testing wicks or new fragrances and then have to switch tack into “mum mode” and go and cook the children's tea and deal with homework. I think one of my son’s first words was quite possibly “candle”!
But the family has been so supportive, and my husband so helpful stepping in to take over. All the hard work has paid off and I am immensely proud of my product which is made with a lot of love and care, and I really hope you enjoy burning your candle as much as I have enjoyed making it.
