Batsford Arboretum

BATSFORD ARBORETUM IS RENOWNED FOR BEING ONE OF THE FINEST BOTANICAL GARDENS IN ENGLAND, COVERING OVER 56 ACRES OF BEAUTIFUL COTSWOLD COUNTRYSIDE.

The Arboretum at Batsford is home to one of the largest private tree collections in the country, providing something of interest throughout the year and famed for trees which originate in Japan and China. There is a restaurant, garden shop and the wonderful Applestore shop which is full of shabby-chic furniture and other items, including our own Cotswold Candles. Definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the area or even simply passing through.

The beautiful gardens at Batsford include a huge range of plants from around the world but are primarily from the Far East. There are more than 2,500 different types of plants and more than 1,000 different trees.

Since 2002 and each year since Batsford has hosted the National Collection of Japanese Flowering Cherries. These trees have a relatively short lifespan at 50 years so every 25 years or so they grant material to replace any losses.

The Gardens look spectacular in Autumn with all the different coloured leaves and is the perfect setting for a long stroll through one of the most beautiful and well kept gardens in England.

When you have finished touring the gardens there is the Garden Terrace Cafe with a selection of hot and cold meals and a selection of afternoon teas and cakes. For further information call 01386 701 974.

THE APPLESTORE SHOP

Located next to the Garden Shop is The Applestore, a shabby-chic collection of vintage tea cups, second-hand and antique furniture and an assortment of candlesticks and scented candles. The Applestore is open 10.30am to 5.00pm Wednesday to Saturday and Sundays 12.00pm to 5.00pm.

THE GARDEN SHOP

From seeds to hoses and statues for your garden to cards and footwear - the Garden Shop has everything you could need for your garden. This includes everything you could need to look after the birds in your garden. Just behind the shop is the falconry centre with fairly regular displays using many different birds of prey.
