A Sunday Without a Plan
An October Sunday does not need much of a plan. The week may have been full of appointments, messages and small decisions; a day at home can make room for a different kind of attention. You might take a walk before lunch, listen to rain gather at the window, or leave the afternoon open except for a pot of tea and a book waiting on the table.
There is pleasure in letting the house come back to itself slowly. Put away the things that have collected during the week, fold a blanket over the arm of the sofa and move a lamp closer to the place where you like to read. Open a window for a few minutes if the air feels close, then let the room settle again. These small gestures change the feeling of a space without turning rest into another task.
A familiar fragrance can give the day a gentle rhythm. In the morning, fresh air and the clean scent of a just-made cup of tea are enough. As the light fades, choose something deeper and quieter. Frankincense & Myrrh brings a resinous, softly warming note that suits the slow transition from afternoon into evening.
Keep the ritual uncomplicated: light the candle only while you are in the room, place it on a clear, steady surface, and give it space away from curtains, books and blankets. Then close the book for a moment, watch the last light leave the garden and allow the evening to arrive in its own time.
By Sunday night, the house may not look very different. The comfort comes from having made a little room for yourself: a chair ready for tomorrow, a calm corner to return to, and the feeling that the week can begin without needing to be solved all at once.
